Radio & Volunteering
My ham radio license and gear, plus where I spend my volunteer time.
Volunteering
I currently volunteer as the Co-President of Radio Services Diversified Communication Association, a non-profit emergency communication group.
My wife Lisa and I were part of the launch team for Great Lakes Church in Kenosha, WI, helping with the planning and launch of the church from the very beginning. I started out as the video tech before eventually moving over to the kids' area, where I felt God leading me. I've been there ever since, and I love spending my Sunday mornings helping bring more technology into the GLC Kids department to improve the kids' experience — maintaining the church network and running audio and video for the department.
HAM Radio
I was first licensed as a Novice in April of 1990, and in June of 1990 I upgraded to Technician, which later became Tech Plus when the FCC no longer required Morse code for a Tech license. I've held that license ever since. I'm currently dabbling in DMR and have two DMR hotspots — one at home and one in my car.

Weather & Storm Spotting
I'm also a bit of a weather fanatic. I run a personal weather station, KILZION17, reporting live conditions to Weather Underground, and I'm a trained storm spotter. When the weather turns bad, I'm usually watching radar in GRLevel3 and tracking conditions with WeatherWise.
