Delivery day at Ace Hardware
I worked my regular shift at the Ace Hardware here in Zion, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It was delivery day, so I spent most of the shift putting out stock.
An old mattress out the door
A friend came over at 6:00 p.m. to help me haul an old mattress out of our guest room — the kind of job that's a lot easier with a second pair of hands.
Finishing this site's own redesign
I spent the rest of the day closing out work I'd been chipping away at on this site: migrating the whole thing to Eleventy, including a real blog collection so this page generates itself from each post's own front matter instead of me hand-editing a timeline list every time. A final whole-branch review caught real regressions before I shipped — a few posts had quietly lost links and punctuation from their lead paragraphs, and some pages had lost their own social-share blurbs and search keywords along the way. I fixed all of it, then deployed this site along with the other two sites I'd migrated to the same templating approach this month.
Once that was live, I shipped the redesign I'd been wanting for this site specifically — a dark, green-on-black "CRT terminal" palette for the page content, plus a subtle scanline-and-glow effect on just the header and footer to lean into the retro-techy feel without making the actual reading experience harder on the eyes.
